R&B artist, Summer Walker’s debut album, Over It, is making huge waves. Unfortunately, the success of her album has been overshadowed as of late by the review of one of her Meet &Greets.
The singer was forced to open up about her struggles with social anxiety after a disappointed fan complained on social media about the”anticlimactic” Meet & Greet with the singer.
Walker took to Instagram to address the controversy.

I just want to say to all the fans who purchase meet & greets I really APPRECIATE y’all taking the extra time to meet me and share your stories. I tell everyone individually “thank you”, I spread love, we laugh & I give genuine compliments🖤 now for those who’re upset b/c I don’t give hugs idk what to tell you…I’m an empath, and that transference of energy from that many people each day would literally KILL me.. y’all may not understand what I’m talking about but for example… there’s a lot of people out here faking the funk with a smile on their face like they got it together but inside your actually suffering from some sort of traumatic experience, a loss, depressed, fearful, envious or whatever the case may be BUT I CAN FEEL IT. So I ask you please respect my space in those moments 🖤

Here’s the thing…
The fact is we can definitely absorb and transfer energy to one another. Summer’s need to cancel tour dates not only proves that transference of energy happens physically, but it also affects our mind and emotions WITHOUT physical touch, although, those who aren’t spiritually attuned may not realize it.
A Basic Understanding
Loving energy vibrates at a higher frequency while darker energy vibrates at a lower frequency. The happier the energy, the higher the frequency. Empaths, who are highly sensitive to energies, either way, are more susceptible to energy exchange because they feel it intensely. Summer’s Empathic needs urge us to dig a little deeper into acknowledging why energy exchange is not done with physical touch alone.
Three Ways We Can Exchange Energy
From the Divine energy that creates our being to the negative energy created through negative situations or low-vibrational people, energy is always moving and ever-changing based on what we choose to believe and what we’re accustomed to doing as we navigate through this world in our lifetime. The energy exchange is never the same. We absorb a lot on a daily basis, intentionally or unintentionally. We are exposed to a variety of media that influence us through news, current events, and entertainment. We become inspired, enriched, or enlightened which are high-vibrational emotions or unmotivated, depressed, or angry which are low-vibrational emotions. In the age of the internet and social media, we are exposed daily to words or images that we view that may either make us feel good or make us feel bad. All of the aforementioned will affect our mind, our spirit, and our body, which are the three ways exchange/transfer of energy can occur.
Body (Physical contact) – Already touching on the physical contact, touch is one of the most powerful ways energy can be transferred. When a person’s spirit and/or mind isn’t healthy, it will be felt, no matter how hard they may try to hide how they really feel. It’s all in the touch. Additionally, If the touch isn’t met with warmth, lifting, protection, or healing, we will pick up on it. Sex is a whole other level of physical energy exchange that is a lot more powerful than a hug. As explained here, how someone feels and what he/she holds energetically during sex can be transferred into their partner. Especially if the receiver is a woman. Naturally, women are built to receive because of how we’re created. As a result, we are most affected when it comes to energy exchange during sex.
What we embed in our minds as memories will either lower our frequency or raise our frequency, depending on the memory itself. What we absorb mentally can alter our energies, causing us to feel our feelings. What we see and feel can affect our thoughts, causing us to either vibrate high or vibrate low. A healthy mind is vital for one’s spiritual growth, which is exactly why we should think positive thoughts. Positive thoughts create positive energy. Negative thoughts create negative energy. There’s a quote that says, ” If you understood the power of your thoughts, you would govern them more closely”. What’s embedded in our minds can also affect us physically by way of stress, which could lead to headaches, as well as body soreness such as neck/shoulder pain. Expressing to others what’s on our minds, such as opinions and judgments can easily affect those who are easily convinced or influenced, leading to similar energies felt that the carrier holds.
We have what we call “Chakras”. Chakras are energy centers that govern how we feel, think, view, etc. For a more detailed breakdown, go here. We have seven main chakras that if they’re underactive or imbalanced can affect our mind, body, and spirit. We’re not able to navigate through our daily lives functionally with imbalanced chakras, which in turn, lowers our vibrations. For example…one of our chakras is the Heart Chakra. When loved correctly, it illuminates within, which is a sign of a healthy chakra. When we feel rejected, it’s quite the opposite of feeling “loved”. That creates an unhealthy and dull heart chakra that needs healing. Again…what we listen to, see, and feel affects our chakras, which are our energy centers. High energy versus low energy.
In defense of Summer, we don’t blame her for not hugging her fans during Meet & Greets for the very reasons above. Everyone has the right to protect their personal space the way they see fit. However, we’re pretty sure it’s difficult for a public figure such as herself to set limitations with her fans regarding personal space….but I digress.
