Six Methods That Will Bring Your Spirit Up

If I had realized the importance of the six “natural doctors” and their healing properties a long time ago, I’d be the healthiest, most efficient, and well-balanced human on Earth. Unfortunately, I’ve learned about this late in the game. However, I’ve studied and I’m here to share with you how Sunshine, Water, Rest, Exercise, Diet, and Air can change your life in more ways than one.

I’m 42-years-old now, but when I was in my twenties, I never knew how a lack of any of the aforementioned could affect me. I avoided the sun as much as possible during the summer because of the obvious uncomfortable 95-degree weather, Coca-Cola was always my first choice of a beverage, as opposed to water, School and work was more important than rest, my diet was horrible, air didn’t matter to me, and back then I used to say, “what’s exercise?”
For years, I’ve suffered physically as well as emotionally, because I wasn’t taking into consideration the sufficient amount of sunshine, water, rest, exercise, diet, and air needed to sustain a life with a bountiful amount of energy, light, and high vibrations. Once I learned that we, as humans, need all of those to keep our spirits up, I started implementing each method into my life as much as humanly possible.

Sunshine– According to US Health News, researchers cite “decreased outdoor activity” as one reason that people may become deficient in vitamin D. Another recent study found an increased risk of heart attacks in those with low vitamin D levels. It’s also reported that adequate amounts of sunlight which has Vitamin D benefits, may protect against a host of diseases, including osteoporosis, heart disease, and cancers of the breast, prostate, and colon. What’s more, sunlight has other hidden benefits—like protecting against depression, insomnia, and an overactive immune system. DISCLAIMER: this is info I’ve discovered during my research. However, as with any information you find online that you can benefit from, it’s wise to do your OWN research, as well. Fyi…keep sunscreen handy.

Water– Why wouldn’t water be one of the six best “natural doctors”? Water is a huge part of our physical well-being. Our body uses water in all its cells, organs, and tissues to help regulate temperature and maintain other bodily functions. Because our body loses water through breathing, sweating, and digestion, it’s important to rehydrate by drinking fluids and eating foods that contain water. Water helps flush away toxins, helps our skin, our largest organ, glow like our aura, and our hair will sustain moisture.

Rest-I used to think resting was a luxury I couldn’t afford until I had to take a couple days off work for burning out. It’s time to rethink some things when your paycheck is affected! Rest doesn’t necessarily mean to sleep your day away, although that might not be too bad. For me, rest simply means taking a small break from not only the physical aspects of your life but also from the experiences that impacts you mentally & spiritually, as well. When we rest, we are able to reconnect with our primary purpose in life without self-detrimental distractions.

Exercise– Exercise is a form of bodily movement that aids in sustaining or improving fitness and health. Fortunately, there are all kinds of exercise that we can choose that works with our lifestyle. For some of us like me, yoga is the “go to” form of exercise because it’s also a form of meditation and increases flexibility, among other benefits. We also have exercises that primarily helps improve strength, endurance, and balance. I’m biased, so you know I’m gonna add that Yoga aids in improving all of those, as well 

Diet– Along with exercise, it’s important to stick with a diet plan that will help keep those inches off. From plant-based to vegan, there are many healthy and tasty dishes that will satisfy your taste buds, as well as your waistline. When you eat lighter, you’ll feel lighter. When you eat heavy, you’ll feel heavy. Remember that when you crave a cheesesteak or fried chicken. I’m not Vegan but I do incorporate plant-based meals into my diet with only baked chicken breast or salmon. You have to try different meals that work for you, as long as it’s all healthy. I can’t stress enough how great you’ll feel once you change your diet and stick with it. You’ll not only feel great physically but emotionally, as well. We’ll dig deeper on how emotional eating is a REAL THING in another post.

Air– Of course, we need air to live! When we inhale or breathe in, the air goes into the windpipe through our nose. Fresh air with oxygen reaches the lungs from the windpipe. The oxygen mixes with the blood and reaches the heart. The heart pumps it and it reaches the other parts of the body. Therefore, WE NEED AIR! Especially CLEAN air. This is why we side-eye people that’ll smoke near us like we asked for their second-hand smoke…
I was stoked once I learned there are alternative ways to create your own clean air. We have the air purifier that we plug in, but did you know there are certain houseplants that we can place in our sacred space to help purify the air, as well?

There are many benefits to keeping houseplants in your home! You’ll have fewer allergy symptoms, you’ll feel more joyous, and as an added touch to the appearance of your sacred space, it’ll turn your space into floral heaven.
