Either you or someone you know suffers from High Blood Pressure and it’s more common in African-Americans.

High blood pressure means that your heart is working harder to pump blood through your body. This increased stress can increase your risk of stroke, heart disease, kidney failure and even blindness.  Thankfully, we have effective ways to lower your blood pressure if you suffer from this. If medication is not for you, dietary changes and exercise works wonders.

When it comes to dietary changes, incorporating juices is a common, effective, and TASTY method to lowering the blood pressure.

Beet Juice

Beets and beet juice are high in nitrates, which doctors believe is the most important ingredient for lowering blood pressure. According to Everyday Health, people who have naturally low blood pressure should use caution when drinking it, as it may result in an unsafe drop in blood pressure. Beet juice could be an exciting new therapy for people who have high blood pressure and have developed some degree of heart wall stiffening. It can help lower blood pressure, and more importantly improve exercise capacity and endurance.

Carrot Juice

A fave among many, carrot juice is packed with antioxidants, fiber and phenoloic compounds, which have been shown to reduce the risk of vascular disease. According to Healthy Juicingcarrot juice helps to maintain normal blood pressure by regulating heart and kidney function. Studies have even shown carrot juice to reduce the risk of heart disease. Carrots are loaded with potassium, which helps to prevent and control high blood pressure.

Cranberry Juice

Another fave of many, cranberries and cranberry juice are not only high in anti-0xidants, but also, according to Doctors Health Press, Cranberry juice may reduce blood pressure by increasing blood flow, reducing inflammation, and dilating blood vessels due to its high vitamin C content. Research shows that low-calorie cranberry juice is associated with a reduced risk of high blood pressure in rats and mice. A study published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition in 2009 found that cranberry juice consumption could reduce both systolic and diastolic blood pressure, which can also lower the risk of heart disease and stroke.

Celery Juice

Celery sticks is a popular snack with peanut butter but as a juice, it’s another great remedy for lowering the blood pressure. According to Doctors Health Press, celery is loaded with blood pressure-lowering nutrients such as calcium, potassium, and antioxidants like vitamin A and vitamin C. Celery seed could potentially regulate blood pressure, improve circulation, and lower inflammation due to its methanolic, aqueous-ethanolic, and hexanic extracts. A study published in the Journal of Medicinal Food in 2013 showed that when rats were given celery seed extract over seven weeks, they would experience significant improvement in blood pressure compared to the rats not given celery extract. To make celery juice, simply juice five to 10 celery stalks into your low-speed juicer, and pour the contents into a glass for a refreshing drink.
