Let’s face it, the Corona Virus, at this point, has impacted us deeply and our lives are forever changed. With the number of deaths rising in certain parts of the world, it’s apparent that we should definitely take this epidemic more seriously now than we have. With that said, HB has compiled a list of tips that’ll help us all survive this outbreak to the best of our human ability.
Diligent hand-cleaning: This includes not only hand sanitizer but actual soap and anti-bacterial soap and water periodically throughout the day. Keeping your hands clean thoroughly the number one method at helping to eliminate the spread of germs and viruses.
Improve air quality: Viruses do not survive in humid air so investing in a humidifier is something worth fighting over in the store as opposed to toilet paper. (sarcasm). Using an essential oil diffuser is helpful as well. Certain essential oils have anti-bacterial properties such as Lavender and Eucalyptus. Eliminate face/eye touching: Obviously, touching your face and eyes with dirty hands can indeed, transfer germs/viruses a dozen times per hour. All the more reason to follow tip number one.
Boost Your Immune System: There are a few ways to boost your immune system. One of those ways is sticking to a leafy green/fruit diet. Fresh fruits and veggies carry the nutrients provided to boost your immunity. Another way is using certain herbs and spices which a lot of folks are not aware of.
1.Ginger- Ginger has been shown to have impressive antiviral activity thanks to its high concentration of potent plant compounds. Additionally, specific compounds in ginger, such as gingerols and zingerone, have been found to inhibit viral replication and prevent viruses from entering host cells.
2. Turmeric- Turmeric aids in making our immunity stronger, the main life-saving ingredient in turmeric is about 3-5 % of Curcumin; a phyto-derivative, which contains healing properties. However, because of the low percentage levels in standardized turmeric powder, it is difficult to reap all benefits by just taking turmeric in small doses and thus supplements could be required.
3.) Cinnamon- Cinnamon is high in a substance with powerful medicinal properties. Cinnamaldehyde, one of the main active components of cinnamon, has antifungal and antibacterial properties, which may reduce infections and help fight tooth decay and bad breath.
4. Cayenne Pepper- Cayenne pepper has been found to dramatically improve circulation and boost the entire immune system. When combined with lemon, cayenne pepper acts as a powerful ally in the fight against bacteria. The properties in lemon and cayenne are so strong, they can be used as antibacterial cleaners. Drinking lemon water with cayenne can prevent you from getting sick. If you do happen to pick up an infection, the combination of lemon and cayenne can work to reduce your symptoms. Both ingredients contain properties that help soothe minor viral infections, especially sore throats. Both boost the immune system and contain compounds that reduce congestion, making this beverage ideal for use during cold and flu season.
Disinfect surfaces commonly touched: Disinfecting surfaces can surely help prevent the spread of viruses. One thing you’d want to remember is to let the surface remain wet for 3 mins. prior to wiping dry.
No handshakes, but we can dap or fist bump all day!: Handshaking is a definite NO as of now because it quickly transfers germs 10xs more than anything!
